Having good joint stability means that the surfaces of a joint are kept aligned as we move. This is important as it prevents joints from wearing down faster. It can prevent things such as osteoarthritis which can damage your joints which can seriously affect your joint stability. Other key issues relating to joint stability are that if a joint has bad stability then this can affect other joints in the body and can distort the natural body shape. This can cause the degeneration of other joints especially if the vertebrae , which is a cartilaginous joint, is damaged or becomes unstable. Then serious damage can be caused to adjoining joints as well as serious treatment will be required to increase the stability of the joint.

Joint Stability: The capacity of a joint to return to it's ''normal'' position remaining consistent and steady. Joints remain stable due to the resting tension of the deep muscles that act to hold one bone against the next. An example of a joint stability issue is whiplash injury where these deep muscles are damaged and don't do their job.

The ability of a joint to withstand shocks and movements with being dislocated or injured. Stability depends a number of different factors, including the strength of the ligaments and the strength of the muscles associated with the joint. Too much flexibility training may reduce stability making an individual more prone to dislocations.

Joint stability is the resistance offered by various musculoskeletal tissues that surround a skeletal joint. it is also the ability of a joint to withstand shock and movments without being damaged and to return to its natural position.

Hi Elle, So having a look at the answer I think you need not mention that they are very elastic. They are slightly elastic. The reason that they are prone to stretching is if you have a sedentary lifestyle. You would also mention that if you take part in physical activity then you can increase the ligament strength.

joint stability is the resistance offered by various musculoskeletal tissues that surround a skeletal joint. most issues are the ligaments in the joint being too flexible and snapping, physical activity and exercise impact joint stability if there is too much shock from continuous movement on hard ground or over moving the joints over a long period of time

I think that you need to mention the impact of physical activity in almost all answers. The affect of not participating in physical activity will be a possible increase in weight, therefore, an increase in pressure on the joints. This can affect the ligaments by increasing the pressure on them to support the joint. Other points can be a sedentary lifestyle (non participation) can reduce the amount of synovial fluid. Please try and read around the subject and give yourself time to submit a good answer.
